Laser Hair Removal

Does It Hurt?

Laser_Hair_Removal_1There is minimal discomfort. It feels like a rubber band snap. Topical Anesthesia can be used for areas that are more sensitive.  Our office uses the best FDA approved product on the market, the Sciton JOULE™  http://www.sciton.com/products/joule.html

How does Laser Hair Removal work?

The laser targets the hair follicle without disrupting the skin's surface to remove hair on any part of the body for smooth softer looking skin. The energy directed from the lasers hand piece is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle, the generated heat energy is designed to destroy the hair follicle so it cannot grow back. Our top of the line approach to hair removal is safe for all skin types and targets all hair colors that contain melenin. The result is permanent hair reduction providing the most desired effect.

How long does a treatment take?

The length of a laser session may range from a few minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the size of the area being treated. More than one treatment may be required to complete large areas of the body.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments required depends on the type of hair and the region being treated. This is due to the variation of the hair growth cycle in various regions of the body. Since your hair grow in intervals of three cycles, we recommend waiting four to eight weeks in between treatments until your desired result is achieved. Our goal is to target hair growth in the Anagen phase where hair growth is active and contains the most melanin. A precise cost and treatment estimate will be given at the initial consultation. Please contact us for more details.

How will my skin look after a treatment?

The appearance of the treated immediately after a laser session will vary from patient to patient depending on the extent of treatment. Immediate after-effects, if any, are minor. Most people return to normal activity right away. We will be happy to tell you more about your treatment and what can be expected during and after the procedure when you contact us for a complimentary consultation.

I was out in the sun, is it okay to get treated?

We recommend staying out of the sun for four to six weeks before treatments, for safe and optimal results.

Is it permanent?

Yes, some hair growth may appear after six to eight treatments but it will be thinner, lighter in color, and grow much slower rate than before. It is permanent hair reduction. Every person is different, but most experience eighty percent or more permanent hair reduction. Maintenance sessions may be necessary in some cases.

Is there any pre-treatment?

You cannot pluck, wax, use depilatory or have electrolysis in the areas you want to treat for six weeks prior to laser hair removal. Do not tan areas for two weeks prior to treatment. Avoid using self-tanning products for two weeks prior to treatment.

What body areas can be treated?

Any area, except around the eyes. The upper lip, neck, underarms, bikini line, legs, chest, and back can all be treated.

What post-treatment is necessary?

You will need to use sunscreen regularly during your laser treatment package and for six weeks after completing your packages. Avoid irritants for seven days after treatments. Do not tan areas for two weeks after treatment.
